 • Why Nehemiah chose priests for the Sheep Gate and not builders
 • How misalignment weakens a project, and how divine alignment strengthens it
 • How to discern the right person for the right task
 • Why rushing placements leads to frustration, delays, and unnecessary battles
 • How God guides you step-by-step when you're building something significant

If you’re leading a team, starting something new, praying for direction, or sensing a shift in your relationships or responsibilities — this episode will give you clarity and peace.

(0:04) Hi everyone, and welcome back to Draw Last Peaks. (0:08) Thank you for joining me once again today. (0:10) So today we're going to continue learning from Nehemiah 3. (0:13) Holy Spirit, thank you for your word.
(0:15) Help me to deliver your word as you put in my heart, all of you, less of me, in Jesus (0:21) name. (0:22) Amen. (0:24) So, I've titled this episode, The Right People for the Right Assignment.
(0:29) Very important. (0:31) So I'll read Nehemiah 3 verses 1 to 2 quickly, and we'll discuss in our usual fashion afterwards. (0:38) So then Elisha, Elisha the high priest, rose up with his brethren, the priests, and built (0:46) the ship gate.
(0:47) They consecrated it and hung its doors. (0:50) They built as far as the tower of the hundred and consecrated it, then as far as the tower (0:57) of Hananel. (1:00) Next to Elisha, the men of Jericho built, and next to them, Zachar the son of Imre built.
(1:07) And so there's a building going on, like we had discussed in the last episode, Nehemiah (1:13) had like a, what's the word, a sort of urge and burden to rebuild the Jerusalem walls (1:21) because they had been broken down, a lot of fights, wars, battles, etc. (1:24) The people were very vulnerable at that point in time, they needed someone to help them, (1:29) to save them, protect them, and the wars were made to do that. (1:33) Now Nehemiah mourned, fasted, prayed, got fulfilled from the king at that point in time, in what's (1:42) called King Azatexes, and then the king sent him guards to go to Jerusalem and all of that.
(1:53) And now the building has commenced, great. (1:56) Now we saw yesterday, or in the last episode, that the building commenced with what we call (2:02) the ship gate. (2:03) The ship gate is the gate where sacrifice is brought in, anything we are saying, into (2:07) the temple.
(2:08) And we understood that it commenced with the ship gate because Nehemiah understood something (2:14) called worship precedes, you know, building. (2:18) He understood the importance of building altars before we want to build externally and the (2:24) different things God has called us to build, which is why it is. (2:27) But here, another lesson is also learned.
(2:31) Eliashep was the high priest at that point in time, and it says that then Eliashep, the (2:39) high priest and the priest built the ship gate. (2:42) You wonder, they were not born to be builders, or they were not called to be builders, but (2:48) in this particular situation, right, they built the ship gates. (2:54) Now, why would you say so? (2:57) Because the ship gate was practically, specifically sanctified, you know, the remaining ship that (3:03) is going to be sacrificed in the temple is for purity, spiritual alignment, and it needed (3:09) someone consecrated to be able to do that.
(3:13) And who were those consecrated? (3:15) The priests. (3:18) And so God aligned the right people, Eliashep and the other priests, to rebuild the ship (3:26) gate. (3:27) You see, Eliashep was not just building a gate, he was building the spiritual entry point (3:34) into the nation.
(3:36) It is very important to remember this. (3:38) Yes, it may not have been the main gate to the nation, but it was one of the probably (3:43) the most important gates because it was a spiritual gate where they would bring in the (3:47) sacrifice into, you know, Jerusalem, and it needed someone anointed for such sacred things. (3:53) Yes, the builders would have come with skills, wisdom, understanding, knowing how to build (3:59) walls, particularly wood and all those things, and, you know, craft and all those things, (4:04) but were they anointed to do that as I was known? (4:09) Sometimes one can easily think, oh, anyone can do this.
(4:13) What's the big deal? (4:14) It's just a gate with ships, just create a space for the ships to go in and that's it, (4:18) right? (4:19) Oh, you know, people are available. (4:21) Let them do it. (4:22) Or she's talented, he's talented enough, let him do it.
(4:26) But you see, if one does not align the right people to the right assignments, that is how (4:32) projects can crumble. (4:35) That's how visions can collapse because the wrong person in the right place will lead (4:42) to weakness. (4:43) They can't do it.
(4:44) The right person in the wrong place will lead to wasted potential, right? (4:48) Because you have a great mind, but not using the skill that he's been given and the wrong (4:55) alignment will literally lead to dangerous foundations. (4:59) So even though they may have had many builders that could have built these things, they had (5:04) to go to those that were anointed to do so. (5:08) Nehemiah understood this assignment and went and obviously discerned this spiritually and (5:13) so must we as well in the various ways we are called to build.
(5:19) It's very important in this building projects that God is doing us, calling us to be whatever (5:23) it is. (5:24) We need to ask God who is meant for what? (5:29) Yes, it may seem like a small question of, oh, well, I have a brain that can figure it (5:33) out. (5:33) No, we can figure out based on our limited information.
(5:38) God's info is very, very, you know, unlimited. (5:42) Ask God, this person has these skills, has these thoughts, is he the person that will (5:47) build this part of this, you know, um, um, business for me, or should I ask on someone (5:53) else? (5:53) Yes, God has brought all these people to you to build great, but you are the one that has (6:00) to discern to know where to put each person, what project, what segment each person needs (6:07) to go to. (6:07) You have to allocate your resources accordingly, because if you don't allocate them well, as (6:13) I said before, it's either you waste potential, lead to weaknesses or destroy foundations (6:19) because the wrong people in the wrong tasks, it's just horrible, right? (6:23) And it's very easy to make that mistake based on limited information, but with God that (6:29) has unlimited information, when you ask him and he aligns, it may not make sense most (6:35) of the time, but in hindsight, which is an amazing, amazing, you know, site to look back (6:41) at, you'll be grateful that you followed God's leading and direction.
(6:46) And so we can't afford to rush decisions, assume roles, push people where you feel, (6:52) you know, is best without asking God, because you don't want misalignment in your projects. (6:59) You don't want misalignment in what God has called you to do, but you might see God did (7:04) call you to do this, rebuild this, build this, whatever God has called you to build. (7:08) God called Nehemiah as well, but if Nehemiah wrongly used the resources that are given (7:13) to him, it will have been chaos, battles here and there, people, you know, struggling in (7:22) different things, people, people's potential not being used as they should because of, (7:27) of, of the right and all those things.
(7:29) But if you do it the way God has called you to do, then you'll see that things are much (7:35) more precise. (7:37) You have less time-wasting and things go according to plan. (7:42) So on an ending note, and just to also purchase this point, God doesn't just send people, (7:50) right? (7:51) If God has sent you people, the question you ask yourself and ask God particularly is where (7:58) have you sent them to? (8:00) What should they be doing? (8:03) He will always send the right people for the right tasks.
(8:07) You need to discern who it is by speaking to him and asking those questions. (8:12) And so, in summary, there's no need to rush such decisions. (8:16) Oh, this one is available, get on with it, no, slow down, ask God.
(8:22) I know that it may feel as if you are wasting time, everything is going on, you know, time (8:27) is going, people are, you know, very patient ETC. (8:32) Yes, it may feel that way, but you'll be thankful if you wait for God's response that you did. (8:41) If God is saying to you, don't put that person there, and you're like, oh, but Lord, who can (8:47) I put and all that? (8:49) And you know you're on easy uphills, just stop.
(8:51) Don't put that person there because God is trying to warn you about something that you (8:56) may not realise. (8:58) There are many ways God speaks to us and as you grow, you will know what he's saying to (9:04) you based on how he speaks to you. (9:06) Don't ignore those nudges, don't ignore those warnings, lean into them so you'll be the (9:13) right people for the right tasks in what God has called you to do.
(9:17) So thank you for listening to me today, you know, I'm always so amazed at how excellent (9:23) Nehemiah was able to do this thing in a very record short time. (9:27) And that's because he followed God step by step by step. (9:31) So thank you for listening to me today and God bless you.
(9:35) I love you. (9:36) I love you too. (9:37) Bye.
(9:38) Bye.
