Humility

Jola Ajelabi

2 Samuel 22:28 says, “You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low.” This verse is a powerful reminder that God values and lifts up those who walk humbly before Him, while those who are proud and self-centered are brought low.

When we walk humbly with God, it also shapes our relationships with others. Humility invites us to put others before ourselves, to listen and to serve, rather than seeking recognition or dominance. This humility allows us to honor and encourage others, which strengthens our relationships and brings us together in unity.

The verse also warns against pride. Pride blinds us to our own weaknesses and overestimates our strength. When we’re consumed by pride, we might miss out on God’s guidance, overlook the wisdom of others, and isolate ourselves from the community. Ultimately, pride brings a downfall, while humility safeguards our heart and keeps us grounded.

In summary, humility is a pathway to God’s saving grace. It brings us closer to Him, protects us from pride, deepens our relationships with others, and allows us to follow Jesus’ example. Through humility, we allow God’s strength to be made perfect in our weakness, and in this way, we walk securely in His grace and favor.
